Evaluation of Magazine Front Cover

When producing my magazine front cover, the parts that went well were the producing of the image and text. The overall layout of the cover is simple but effective.
The negative aspects of producing the front cover were the decisions of were to position the image and where to position the subtitles around the image to ensure that the layout of the front cover looked organised. therefore, would appeal to its target audience.

LIIAR analysis of college magazine example 2

Language - The language in this example is shown in the image in medium close-up, the masthead and the subtitles. The masthead is in a bold white colour which contrasts with the rest of the article. This helps to get the main point across to the reader and draw attention to the organisation it is representing. The model in the featured image is looking away from the camera as if not being aware that the picture is being taken. This suggests that the person is carrying out an ordinary task, which relates to what students do at college.
Institution - The institution of this example is Beloit college.
Ideology - The ideology of this magazine example is the colours of the masthead and subtitles, the fact that they are the same colour and font style suggests that they are the most important headings in the product. The institution have chosen to use an image of a person who is dressed in basic clothes with a natural appearance, therefore, it makes the person seem more normal to the reader. The least important texts are in smaller text and the subtitle is larger, which draws the reader's attention to the main heading and entices them to read further. Extra information that is not important is added to the side in small text and in colours. This creates little attention to this section because it is irrelevant to the rest of the article.
Audience - The target audience of this magazine example is college students who may be studying science. They are represented through the image as it features a science student and the subheadings also relate to science.
Representation - The main representation of the product is science courses at Beloit college and any student who studies science, this is clear by the masthead, subtitles and image as all of these are relevant to science and college students. It may also feature other subjects in a smaller form of representation.
